RETAINING OUR SERVICES

Retainer Options

It is important to us to keep our clients’ fees reasonable and at the same time to give our clients realistic expectations as to the cost of their family law matter. Depending on your particular circumstance, we offer a number of representation options detailed below to meet your individual needs. We also offer a one-hour initial consultation billed at the attorney’s regular hourly rate. Please take advantage of this initial consultation to come in and discuss your options. Spending an hour with an experienced family law attorney to discuss strategy and evaluate your options will be well worth your time and money. To schedule an initial consultation, please call (530) 214-8700 or fill out the form on our Contact Us page. We look forward to hearing from you.

Full Scope Litigation Representation
Our attorneys’ practice focuses on litigation. This is our area of expertise. Not all family law cases settle, and when the opposing party is not willing to be reasonable and negotiate in good faith, then litigation is often your only remaining option. As experienced litigators, our attorneys are also well-positioned to settle your case. There is no better settlement leverage than being prepared for trial. As your full scope representation litigation attorneys, we will zealously represent your rights and interests with the expectation that the facts of your case will be presented to a judge at trial, but at the same time always looking for opportunities to settle issues. During your initial consultation, our attorneys will begin working with you to identify issues, develop a litigation strategy, and map out an action plan to implement that strategy in order best position you to achieve your goals.

Limited Scope Representation
If you only need assistance with one or two issues, or only need an attorney to represent you at a particular hearing, we offer limited scope representation. The hourly fee remains the same as for our full scope representation clients, however, we are often able to significantly reduce the initial retainer amount. Some limited scope arrangements do not require renewable retainers while others require minimum trust account balances.

Consulting Services
Some individuals prefer to handle their own dissolution of marriage, custody, support, or legal separation proceeding, but will occasionally, and sometimes often, have questions for an attorney. We can assist you in this process. We offer family law consulting services at an hourly rate. Under a consulting arrangement, we will not negotiate directly with opposing counsel or the opposing party and our firm’s name will not appear on any pleadings or correspondence. We are simply available for our clients to use as a resource as they work through their legal matter. Additionally, when parties are in mediation, clients will often retain and consult with our attorneys as they work through the mediation process. Most mediators recommended that the parties review agreements with their own independent legal counsel prior to signing any agreements.

Documentation Preparation
Some individuals only need assistance with the preparation and/or review of legal documents. For these client’s we offer documentation preparation and review services. Some documents may be prepared or reviewed for a flat fee while others may be billed on an hourly basis depending on the complexity of the services needed.

Mediation Services
Not all family law matters are as adversarial as others. In addition to our litigation services, we also offer mediation services. When two parties simply need help memorializing the agreements they have reached, or need assistance in modifying an existing order, or prefer to work together to attempt and reach a fair and amicable resolution of their family law matter as opposed to pursuing litigation, our family law attorneys and staff at MOBO Law, LLP are here to help. Please call to inquire about rates for mediation services.
